Filo Milo, the accidental Food Shopper 1. Once upon a time in a bustling town known as Big Hustle, there lived a whistling little mouse named Filo Milo. Unlike the other unwise mice, who scurried through fields and meadows, Filo Milo dreamed of exploring new and exciting places. One sunny day, his chance came in the most unexpected way. 2. Filo was sniffing around a picnic area, just outside the town’s largest grocery store, when he spotted a family packing up their lunch. In his eagerness to snatch leftover crumbs, before he had to compete with the pigeons for the leftovers, he didn’t notice himself slipping into a paper bag filled with groceries. He thought he hit the jackpot. As the bag was lifted, Milo's adventure began. 3. He smelled fruits and landed softly among apples and oranges. He wished they were mounds of cheese. The bag was set down with a thud, and Filo peeked out. He was inside the grocery store, a place he had only heard about in mouse legends. Enthralled by the bright lights and towering aisles and canyons, Filo Milo decided to explore this food paradise before finding his way back home. 4. His first stop was the bakery section, where the aroma of fresh bread was almost overwhelming. He nibbled on a tiny piece of baguette that had fallen on the floor, reveling in its soft, doughy texture. Just as he was about to leap onto a shelf of pastries, a cat—a storekeeper’s pet—spotted him. Milo's heart raced as he dashed under a cart and into the safety of the produce section. 5. Hiding behind a cauliflower, he caught his breath and planned his next move. He then scurried up a stalk of Brussels Sprouts, enjoying the view from the top, and decided to make a daring jump into a bin of lettuce to hide from the prowling cat. The crisp leaves offered a great snack and perfect camouflage under the shadow. 6. As he munched, Milo listened to the people around him. Children begged for sweets, couples debated over dinner choices, and an old lady softly sang to herself as she chose her soup ingredients. Milo felt a surge of happiness at being part of this lively human world, even if unnoticed. 7. He dashed from the vegetable section to an area full of open flour bags of wheat and rice. His mortal enemy the cat was on a relentless pursuit. In his hurry to hide from him, he accidentally fell into the rice bag. The cat lost the scent of Filo Milo and left the premises. Filo peeped his head. He turned white from grey, his natural color. He scooted strait to the ice cream section, dived into the kitchen sink, swam for a while, washed himself of the rice flower, rolled on the kitchen towel and exited the area. 8. He had the urge to visit the cheese section. His eyes bulged and rolled as he was astonished to see a cornucopia of exotic variety of cheese. There was so much cheese smell, the cat could not track Filo in the Cheese section. Filo nibbled on the cheese and smacked his lips. He was a glutton for cheese. He could barely move, since he ate the cheese and drank from a discarded beer can upto his gills. 9. But adventures must end, and as the store grew quiet, Filo knew it was time to leave, esp. after his binge eating on cheese and drinking flat beer.. He slipped into an elderly lady's shopping bag heading out the door, which fortunately was placed near a park bench as the lady sat on the bench before she got into her car. With one bold jump, he exited the bag and found himself back in the grass, under the open sky. 10. He scurried back to his field, eager to tell his fellow mice about the wonders of the grocery store. His mice mates knew rightaway that Filo had too much beer and cheese because his speech was slurred. From that day on, Filo no longer just dreamed of adventures—he chased them, always wondering what fantastic place he’d to explore next. He made a promise he would forego beer on his next adventure.
