Kural 471: வினைவலியும் தன்வலியும் மாற்றான் வலியும் துணைவலியும் தூக்கிச் செயல். வினை வலியும் தன் வலியும் மாற்றான் வலியும் துணைவலியும் Know the difficulty of the deed, the strength of oneself, the opponent, and the partner . தூக்கிச் செயல் and then act on it. 471. Knowing the difficulty of the deed, the strength of oneself, the opponent, and the partner, then act on it.	Kural 472: ஒல்வ தறிவது அறிந்ததன் கண்தங்கிச் செல்வார்க்குச் செல்லாதது இல். ஒல்வது அறிவது அறிந்து Knowing the task and that which is doable and with that knowledge அதன்கண் தங்கிச் செல்வார்க்கு Abiding in it and proceeding செல்லாதது இல் nothing is impossible. 472. Knowing the task, that which is doable and with that knowledge, abiding in it and proceeding, nothing is impossible.
Kural 473: உடைத்தம் வலியறியார் ஊக்கத்தின் ஊக்கி இடைக்கண் முரிந்தார் பலர். தம் உடை வலி அறியார் Those ignorant of their own strengths (and weaknesses) ஊக்கத்தின் ஊக்கி moved by impulse இடைக்கண் முரிந்தார் பலர் many sustained ruination midway (through their task). 473. A multitude, ignorant of their own strengths (and weaknesses) and moved by impulse, sustained ruination midway (through their task).	Kural 474: அமைந்தாங் கொழுகான் அளவறியான் தன்னை வியந்தான் விரைந்து கெடும். ஆங்கு அமைந்து ஒழுகான் Unable to conduct himself according to his ability அளவு அறியான் the ignoramus not knowing his limitations தன்னை வியந்தான் a self-admirer விரைந்து கெடும் quickly comes to ruin. 474. Unable to conduct himself according to his ability, and not knowing his limitations, the self-admiring ignoramus quickly comes to ruin.
Kural 475: பீலிபெய் சாகாடும் அச்சிறும் அப்பண்டஞ் சால மிகுத்துப் பெயின். பீலிபெய் சாகாடும் அச்சு இறும் The axle of the vehicle with (the lightweight) peacock's feathers will break. அப்பண்டம் சால மிகுத்துப் பெயின் if the load is too much. பீலி = peacock. சாகாடு = vehicle 475. The axle of the vehicle with (the lightweight) peacock's feathers will break if the load of the feathers is too much.	Kural 476: நுனிக்கொம்பர் ஏறினார் அஃதிறந் தூக்கின் உயிர்க்கிறுதி ஆகி விடும். நுனி கொம்பர் ஏறினார் அஃது இறந்து ஊக்கின் The tree climber climbing and rising beyond the most terminal branch உயிர்க்கு இறுதி ஆகிவிடும் will result in the end of life. 476. Climbing beyond the most terminal branch of a tree, a tree climber brings his life to an end.
Kural 477: ஆற்றின் அறவறிந்து ஈக அதுபொருள் போற்றி வழங்கு நெறி. ஆற்றின் அளவு அறிந்து ஈக Knowing the limitations of your giving அது பொருள்போற்றி வழங்கும் நெறி that is the way to safeguard your wealth and make a giving. 477. Preserving your wealth and knowing the limitations of your giving, let him give proportionately.	Kural 478: ஆகாறு அளவிட்டி தாயினுங் கேடில்லை போகாறு அகலாக் கடை. ஆகு ஆறு அளவு இட்டிது ஆயினும் கேடு இல்லை However small is the income, there is no problem போகு ஆறு அகலாக் கடை If the expenditure is not extensive. 478. However scanty is the income, there is no problem, If the spending does not exceed the income
Kural 479: அளவறிந்து வாழாதான் வாழ்க்கை உளபோல இல்லாகித் தோன்றாக் கெடும். அளவு அறிந்து வாழாதான் வாழ்க்கை The life of a prodigal living beyond his means. உளபோல இல்லாகித் தோன்றாக் கெடும் Appears abundant, to begin with, comes to nothing and vanishes soon. 479. The wealth of a prodigal living beyond his means goes from apparent abundance to nothing and vanishes fast.	Kural 480:  உளவரை தூக்காத ஒப்புர வாண்மை  வளவரை வல்லைக் கெடும். உள வரை தூக்காத ஒப்புரவு ஆண்மை Not measuring his holdings and indulging in benevolence வளவரை வல்லை கெடும் the wealth will come to ruin.  480. Not weighing his holdings, and luxuriating in charity, the wealth will come to ruin.
